Student Accomplishments

2006-2007

  • 15 (45% of) 7th graders qualified for Duke Talent Identification Program (based on school standardized testing)*4 qualified for state recognition (based on SAT scores)

  • 19 (45% of) 5th graders qualified for Duke Talent Identification Program (based on school standardized testing)

  • 2 students participated in Duke TIP summer program

  • 4 students won honors from Poetry Society of Texas

  • 1 student won an honor from the Dallas Public Library’s Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition

  • For the third year in a row, students placed in the top 10 spots in the nation in the National News Bowl Competition (out of over twelve hundred teams)

    • 6th grade team--four-way tie for 1st in the nation
    • 5B –2nd in the nation o 5C –8th in the nation
  • Our 6th grade Geography Bee school winner qualified to represent us in the state competition

  • We held our 1st annual Hidot Torah, a Torah Bee

  • A 7th grade team placed 1st in the Dallas Region of the Spring 2008 Stock Market Game

  • Over $9000 raised by 8th grade philanthropic fund, KFC (Kids Caring for Kids) totaling almost $100,000 since the program began in 2000

  • 3 students participated in the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC and have been invited to the upcoming presidential Inauguration

  • Over 1700 hours of community service were completed by Levine Middle School students individually. That does not count LS grades, group activities, Thanksgiving, Purim, or Mitzvah Madness events.

  • Over $3,000 worth of canned goods delivered to Jewish Family Service

  • 87 students earned a place on the Middot Honor Roll; 46 for all 3 Trimesters

  • The Girls’ Varsity Basketball team came in runner up out of 10 teams in the TAPPS League

  • Many students earned a place on either the Academic Honor Roll or High Honor Roll; that number is yet to be determined because the final grades have not yet been completed

  • Show Choir and the Middle School Exploratory produced a professional quality CD

  • Show Choirs sang the national anthem before a Texas Rangers Game

  • The Stallion Band earned 2nd division at the Sandy Lake Competition, as did the Lower School Choir, and both Show Choirs

  • On the 3rd Annual Mitzvah Madness Day middle school students volunteered at Friends of the Farm, North Texas Food Bank, Town Village North, Community Partners Rainbow Room, Golden Acres, Geniza Burial at Congregation Shearith Israel, AIDS Resource Center, and Family Gateway, as well as completing a whole host of activities on campus in the afternoon that will benefit Bea’s Kids, Vogel Alcove, an animal shelter, Austin Street Center, families in Israel, troops overseas, and Darfur.
